Types of UPVC Door Handles
It is essential to select the correct replacement Upvc handle for your home when your handles made of upvc require replacement. A locksmith can supply and fit high-security uPVC handles with added security features.
The most important measurements are measurement A (known as PZ) and the length of the backplate (measurement F). Make sure to check these measurements to make sure that your new uPVC handles will fit.
Lever/Lever

A lever is a rigid bar that pivots around a central point (known as a fulcrum). When you apply force to the end, the fulcrum is likely to turn in the direction the force is applied. This rotation multiplies the force applied, allowing you to lift or move something that would require more force if you were to apply directly to the load.
The distance between the fulcrum and the point where you apply the force determines how far the lever can move. This is known as the mechanical advantage. The greater the length of the lever more, the greater the advantage in terms of mechanical. You can calculate the advantage of mechanical by dividing distance from the fulcrum point to the point at which you are applying force by distance between the fulcrum point and end of the lever.
Levers can produce different effects based on how forces are applied. A lever of class 2, for example is prone to rotating in the opposite direction when an force of the effort is applied. If you push the door's handle, the forces will produce the same rotational effects as this.
However, levers don't create energy. They multiply the force by converting small amounts of effort applied over a long distance into larger amounts of force that are applied over shorter distances. This is what enables you to do more work in a shorter period of time, which is why levers are commonly employed to lift heavy objects or moving large amounts of cargo. This is also the reason behind the levers that are found in many everyday tools like crowbars, fishing rods hammer claws and even your legs when you sit on the hand brake of your car.
Lever/Pad
Lever pad handles are a form of door handle made of upvc that have levers on both sides to operate the multipoint lock. These come in many variations & finishes and are suitable for a range of materials including UPVC, Aluminium & Timber doors. They are sold in pairs for the inner and outer door, with screws and spindles included. They are available both hand- and non-handled versions to meet the needs of different users.
These can be used to replace the existing upvc door. The levers are lifted to open all multipoint locks and the key is turned to lock or close the door. They offer a little more security than standard lever door handles because locking is only done by the inside using the key.
They're not as secure as a cylinder bolt, but are an affordable alternative to add security. The only drawback is that they don't have the same level of security like a cylinder bolt and consequently don't block access to outside when the door is left open.
We stock a large number of lever pad upvc handles that are made by top manufacturers in the industry. They will therefore be made with high quality components. In general, they come with a manufacturer's warranty.
These are usually designed to work with the 92mm lock, or a replacement model called a Paddock Lock. They will feature an 82mm cylinder centre on the inside and 62mm outside. They also come with two spindle followers. Some come with the backplate in place, while others are removable for different fixing centers.
Lever/Snib
Lever latches, the simplest of door handles are utilized. Pushing down on the lever triggers a simple latch mechanism inside to keep the door closed. It can also be locked with the use of a key. Some lever privacy handles operate similar to the doorknob, but with an additional snib, similar to a doorknob.
A snib button can be very useful, especially in homes where it's essential to protect privacy or ensure security. If your spouse is expected to arrive at home late from work, you can utilize the snib so that they can't get in until they're ready in. This kind of handle can also be used on doors inside, such as those in bedrooms, where you wish to restrict outside access.
Snib buttons can cause problems in certain situations, particularly when you have old locks and doors that are warped. If the snib switch is accidentally pressed, or by someone who isn't familiar with it, the door could shut and lock you out. You can usually get in by knocking on the door frame or the letterbox. But, this is not ideal.
If your uPVC has a snib we recommend replacing it with an electronic lock from the E-LOK 7 Series. They can be retrofitted to pull handle kits with double turns and come with cover plates to conceal the holes that are already present, allowing to ensure a seamless installation. The E-LOK uses a smart app to enable you to unlock the door using mechanical keys or RFID cards and is able to be set up with passcodes for secure entry and convenience. The system has been tested to 200k cycles to ensure durability. The handles are made from solid metal and are in compliance with BS EN 1670 Grade 5 for resistance to corrosion.
Lever/Moveable Pad
This is a well-known handle style for front doors. It has the advantage of keeping the door from opening from outside without a key if the lock isn't deadlocked. This is accomplished by using a 'pad-shaped' external handle that locks into the gap between the handle and the lock case.
This type of handle is designed for uPVC doors fitted with multipoint locks that operate using a split spindle operation. This type of operation requires the lever handle and the external pad handle to be fitted to the same lock case. This can be a simple switch from the current uPVC handles but it may also involve changing the lock case or a brand new set of handle furniture to allow for this additional function.
These levers/movable pad handles are suitable for uPVC doors and come with a maintenance free slide bearing as well as spring cassettes, and fixing lugs provided. The handles have an euro-profile cut out and can be installed on many uPVC or timber doors.
The lever moveable pad is available in many styles to match a wide range of multipoint locks. They are designed to be used with split spindle multipoint locks which have a 92mm cylinder centre and require a special split spindle set, as provided by the lock manufacturer.
These Hoppe London lever moveable pad handle 77G/3831N/113 is made of cast aluminum with an anodized finish that's scratch and corrosion resistant. Lever/Moveable Snib
The lever handle is one of the most well-known kinds of door handles made from upvc and is available in a range of designs. It has two moveable inline handles and can be locked using either a key or a thumbturn cylinder inside. A pad handle can be used as an alternative to lever/lever handles. It is made up of an adjustable or fixed pad which can be used to operate a lock. These Fullex handles come with a spring-loaded lever pad as well as a snib, which can be activated to ensure the latch is held.
